Double-Blind Remote Viewing

Double-blind means the viewer and the person interacting with them cannot supply target information during the session. It is the structural foundation of a credible test.

What double-blind means

In a credible remote-viewing test, the viewer cannot know the target through ordinary means. Double-blind adds another layer: the person conducting or monitoring the session also lacks information that could consciously or unconsciously guide the viewer. A neutral target identifier may be shown, but it must not encode a location, category, filename, description or other clue. The session record is completed and locked before target feedback becomes available.

This is more than a promise that nobody intends to cheat. People communicate through tone, timing, facial response and the questions they choose to ask. Software can leak through API fields, image paths, cache keys, error messages or preview modes. Good blinding removes the opportunity for those channels rather than relying on everyone to ignore information they could access.

Why ordinary blind is sometimes not enough

If a monitor knows that the target is a waterfall, asking whether the viewer senses downward motion can shape the session even without deliberate cueing. If an app returns a target identifier or storage path before lock, a technically curious user may resolve it. If candidate images are exposed after reveal, a viewer can begin adapting future descriptions to the matching system instead of recording their experience. Each case changes what the test measures.

The early SRI literature describes independent target selection and blind judging as controls intended to prevent sensory leakage, cueing and belief-driven evaluation. The 1995 program review likewise treated methodological control as central to interpreting statistical results. Those lessons translate directly into modern application architecture.

How the platform enforces it

RV Assistant sends pre-lock sessions through explicit field allow-lists. The target is stored privately under a random, non-derivable key. Reveal is unavailable until the submission has been locked and is restricted to the owner. Candidate sets remain analysis machinery and never enter an API response—even after reveal. There is no deployed preview environment variable. A commitment disclosed after the session lets the participant verify that the target and matching set were fixed beforehand without exposing them early.

Double-blind design is what turns a surprising resemblance into useful evidence. It does not decide the mechanism and it does not guarantee accuracy. It establishes that the record came first and that target information was not available through the system while the viewer worked.
